Considerations Common to All Sport Specific Training
It does not matter what sport you play. We are qualified to provide strength coaching, speed coaching, and conditioning for any sport. Not because we understand how every sport works, but because we understand needs analysis. Every sport has the same basic considerations, and a great needs analysis finds the answers to these common issues:
Sports Injuries
An appreciation of the most common injuries in your sport, and more importantly, those injuries most common to your position in your sport, is of paramount importance. When we know the injuries most likely to occur, we can ensure that proper training occurs to safeguard against those injuries.
In the event that there are pre-existing injuries, we have the expertise to rehabilitate them and get you back to full speed in the shortest time possible. Longevity in sport equals greatness.
The Athlete’s Individual Strengths and Weaknesses
We work with you and your coaches to ascertain where your individual strengths and weaknesses lie. We work to strengthen your weaknesses, while ensuring that your strengths remain strong. The result is a multi-dimensional, more dynamic athlete.
Energy Systems Requirements
Understanding what types of physical pressure you encounter on the field of play dictates the training process. Shot putters are not synchronization swimmers; football players are not weight lifters. Each sport is unique, and each athlete is unique within their sport.
Are you more fast-twitch or more slow twitch? The answer dictates the training process, and we evaluate for the correct answer. Are you a great starter who tires as the game extends? Many times, this problem isn’t even about your fitness level, but you need a qualified coach to detect the problem.
Sport Specific Strength
Strength in what muscle group has the greatest transfer to hitting power in baseball? What about hockey? How about boxing? In each case, the answer is different, and we know the answers. Want to be faster than your competitor in the first 30 meters? Of course you do. Need a better vertical jump? The process is not the same on land as it is on ice.
You can’t just pick up some weights and start training and expect a world class result – you need guidance, knowledge, and experience. In essence, you need the physiqology of sports training.
We train our athletes to be better at their sport, and while the method that we use is strength training, the specifics of each athlete are unique to them within their sport. Bigger, stronger, faster, leaner; or a combination of all four, is what makes good athletes great, and great athletes champions.
