About Javier Garza, NYC Personal Trainer and Strength Coach, Physiqology

Javier Garza is an associate strength coach at Physiqology, Inc., based in New York City. He has a wide range of training experience in NYC and is a consummate student of the strength coaching profession.

Personal Training Philosophy

Javier believes there are three factors essential to success in a training program: a healthy body, a healthy mind, and a plan. These three factors are necessary regardless of the training goal.

Whether it is fat loss, muscle and strength gain, or athletic performance, a healthy body insures that one will adapt to and recover from the stresses of training.

A healthy mind gives one a sharp focus and determination necessary to get the most out of training sessions, leading to accelerated gains in strength and muscle mass as well as more rapid fat loss.

Finally, a well thought out plan, which takes into account all aspects of training, nutrition, and recovery, creates the foundation for reaching any training goal, whether it is to improve athletic performance, obtain that coveted six-pack, or achieve optimal health.

Early History - Athletic Background

Javier played 4 years of football, wrestled for 3 years and was a member of the rugby club.  After finishing his high school career, he chose to focus on football, and played linebacker and defensive end at Columbia University.

A self proclaimed gym rat, he relished the weight training sessions, and would often sneak in extra lifting sessions on his own.  Javier always sought to get the most out of his strength training in order to optimize his performance on the field.

Personal Training Experience

Columbia University

Upon graduation from Columbia University in 2009 with a degree in Biology, Javier decided that he wanted to pursue his passion for strength training. He became a personal trainer in New York City.

Equinox Fitness Clubs

Javier began his personal training career at Equinox in New York City. During his time there, Javier learned valuable evaluation and stretching techniques and he began to establish his reputation as a skilled personal trainer.

David Barton Gym

At David Barton Gym in downtown New York, Javier became one of the highest producing personal trainers in the gym.  Working with a wide variety of clients, he gained a great amount of experience in helping people lose weight, gain strength, and build muscle mass.

Physiqology

Seeking to provide a more comprehensive service to his clients, Javier joined the Physiqology team.  Javier believes that combining training with a thorough nutritional program allows him to accelerate the results he achieves with clients. This essential component of a training program magnifies the benefits of the hard work put in during training sessions.

Personal Training Background - Formal Education

Javier earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Columbia University.  That background provided a solid foundation and understanding of anatomy, physiology, and nutrition as they apply to the personal training and strength coaching profession.

In addition to this university education, Javier has also earned the Poliquin International Certification Program Level 2 certification. Javier continually strives to further his knowledge of not only strength training, but also nutrition, flexibility training, and recovery techniques. He believes that the methods used at Physiqology put him on the cutting edge of the personal and strength training industry.
