Do Artificial Sweeteners Inhibit Fat Loss?

Do artificial sweeteners help, inhibit, or have no effect on weight loss and fat loss? Aren't they a better alternative to sugar?

Getting Artificial Sweeteners Out of Your Diet – Two Real-World Examples

Hidden Artificial Sweetener Case #1

As I said before, my male client was continuing to store too much fat in the subscapulsr , suprailiac, and umbilical folds. With him, the problem was diet soda. He thought that because it had no sugar, it was ok, and since he was on a low carb diet, it was a nice treat for him, so he was treating himself 2-3 times per day, in addition to the single packet of Equal he had with his morning coffee.

We took the diet soda out entirely, replaced it with water, and sweetened his coffee with stevia and fructooligosaccharides. The following week, his sub-scapular fold was down two mm, and he had dropped an entire percentage point of body fat. Perhaps not a very impressive transformation, unless you take into account that up to that point, he never made more than .5% change in any one week, and his sub-scapular fold had largely remained the same for six straight weeks.

Hidden Artificial Sweetener Case #1

My female client was much harder to figure out. At 16 %, she isn’t even fat, but she does carry a significant percentage of her fat in the lower body. I get paid to produce results, I wanted her to have every edge that she could get.

We found artificial sweeteners in her non-fat condiments, namely salad dressings and fat-free mayonnaise. You might think that just that small amount of artificial sweetener is not a big deal, but it can be. If you present with a significant body fat problem, you are already overburdened with toxins by virtue of the fact that you’ve created lots of storage bins in the form of fat cells for them. If you give your body more toxins, you will short change your progress by overloading your system even more.

A Great Read About the True World of Artificial Sweeteners

One of the best books that I’ve read about artificial sweeteners in the recent past is Sweet Deception, by Joseph Mercola. It is a highly informative, exhaustively-researched book that tells the story of artificial sweeteners from their beginning to the present day. It explains their chemical composition and toxicological effects quite well without getting needlessly technical, and is a real-eye opener. I recommend it to anyone who uses artificial sweeteners in their diet. If you want to get lean and you’ve got them in your food, learn that your sweet enough, and use a healthy substitute instead.
