How do I recover from adrenal fatigue?

Given the results from my recent Adrenal Stress Index panel, is it recommended that I cut out caffeine/stimulants? I normally just have one cup of coffee in the am and then Light Speed™ pre-workout. What supplements should I take for recovery of my adrenal glands?

A Novel Way to Approach Adrenal Fatigue Detection and Treatment

Muscle Testing to Identify Adrenal Fatigue

There are other factors to consider besides what supplements will help you replete your adrenal glands best, and which way you are currently tracking - toward health or toward illness. How about uncovering why this happened in the first place? Again, there are probabilities, but muscle testing is the only way I know of without conducting a ridiculously expensive battery of tests to find out what the causative factors are.

Is the Adrenal Fatigue Primary?

In adrenal dysfunction, there can be drivers as well as perpetuators of the fatigue. When the adrenals are fatigued due to exhaustion without any other major concerns, the condition is said to be primary. When the adrenal fatigue is primary, the subject needs head-on adrenal treatment in order to recover.

Specific nutrients, including pregnenolone, DHEA-s, and / or adrenal cortex (that part of the adrenal gland that manufactures cortisol) supplementation may be necessary, as well as adaptogenic herbs, licorice root extract, B vitamins, and other co-factors. In this case, muscle testing uncovers what will work best for you.

Are There Perpetuators of the Adrenal Fatigue?

However, there can still be perpetuators of adrenal fatigue. These perpetuators, if unresolved, keep you in adrenal fatigue longer than necessary, despite adrenal repletion, because they place an additional stress on the system.

This scenario is like having a dam with two holes, one large, one small. The large hole is patched; the small one is left to continue to leak. As a result, the water level continues to drop, although at a much sloer rate than previously.

Blood sugar dysregulation is a major example of a perpetuator, but perpetuators can come from anywhere in the body, and need to be identified in order for treatment to be effective. Again, muscle testing uncovers the perpetuators of adrenal fatigue if they exist. Their treatment optimizes the result of any primary adrenal trestment.

When Adrenal Fatigue is Not the Primary Issue

Finally, adrenal fatigue is not always primary. It can be a secondary symptom of a larger, primary problem. When that is the case, head-on adrenal repletion does little to improve the function of the adrenals, because it allows the primary concern that is actually driving the dysfunction to go untreated.

Using the dam scenario again, treating the adrenal glands head-on now is like sticking your finger in the smaller of the two holes, while the larger of the two is allowed to continue to gush water. Such a scenario is an ineffective treatment for adrenal exhaustion. Unless muscle testing is used to identify the larger underlying issues, and then those issues are given their proper attention, the fatigue can last for years, waxing or waning with ebb and flow of life stress.
