PERSONAL TRAINING NUTRITION 101 FOOD IS A DRUG
Food Is a Powerful Drug to Get Lean and Strong
The food you eat is the most powerful tool you have at your disposal to get lean, strong, and healthy. If you eat correctly, you will save countless hours in the gym, thousands of dollars in supplements and personal training, and still make superior progress.
When new clients come to us for help, or old clients tell us about a new goal, the first thing we do is consult on their diet. Once you realize just how important proper eating is, you have the tools to accomplish 75% of your goals.
The Science of Nutrient Absorption
Everything that you eat, unless it is a pure fat, like fish oil, or a pure carbohydrate, like the glucose that you get at the hospital, has a unique amino acid structure. That amino acid structure is the fingerprint of the food.
When you eat, your brain identifies the food by this chemical configuration. The small intestine, or gut, breaks down the food into smaller molecules, which are absorbed through the intestinal wall.
These molecules pass into the bloodstream and are circulated through the body and absorbed by your cells. Eighty-five percent of your nutrients are assimilated this way. If you have a personal trainer who can help you create this result, your potential for progress is practically unlimited.
Many of the people that I see in New York City and the Tri-State area for personal training and strength coaching are limited by the integrity of their digestive system. The problems generally stem from compromised integrity of the gut, referred to as leaky gut syndrome. Until that problem is addressed, all the exercise in the world will not get them where they want to go.
