FISH OIL

Fish oil is the most important single nutrient that you can supplement the diet with --- whether your goal is to lose weight, lose fat, improve your body composition, get bigger, get stronger, get faster, or improve your mental performance and overall state of being. It is the closest thing to a panacea that I have found in 15 years of strength training, and it goes into every single nutritional protocol that I write for my clients because of it myriad benefits.

Whether the language you use to define your goal is to lose weight or to lose fat, you are speaking about improving your body composition. Body composition, or percent body fat, is an expression of the ratio of adipose (fat) to lean tissue in your body. Lean tissue, in this case, is defined as skin, fasciae, bones, muscles, and organs. Fish oil has a number of unique properties that aid in accomplishing this goal.

Your hormone profile is positively affected by fish oil, namely by controlling insulin secretion. Insulin is a hormone in the body secreted by the pancreas for the purpose of carrying nutrients from food that has been digested to the cells of your body. It is literally a nutrient shuttle bus for nutrients. The problem is that most people today make too much insulin because our typical diets are far too high in refined carbohydrates.
