(Don't) Get In Shape for the Summer

The Environmental Working Group Landmark Study and What it Means To You, IF You Want to Get In Shape

Lastly, the rate of toxic chemical exposure to our soil, our water supply, and the air that we breathe is continually on the rise. From the Environmental Working Group, it has been shown that the average newborn comes into the world with a toxic burden of no less than 287 chemicals. Those chemicals are in the umbilical cord blood, so that’s what the baby is exposed to, while its systems of detoxification and immunity are being built, in the womb. Of those chemicals,

•    180 have been proven to cause cancer in humans or animals
•    217 of them are neurotoxins, which means they are toxic to the brain and the central nervous system.
•    208 of them are known causes of birth defects or cause abnormal development in animal tests.

That data was published in 2005, so it is now almost 5 years old. I tend to doubt that the situation has gotten any better in the last five years. If you think you are healthy enough, I submit to you that you are not. If you want to get in shape, I submit to you that you need to begin a comprehensive program of detoxification to clean up your house. You cannot lose fat, which is the garbage can of the human body, without first unburdening yourself of the garbage.
