HOW TO LOSE BODY FAT ON THE LEGS, Part 2b: Supplementing For Increased Growth Hormone

Glycine

Glycine is another amino acid with several beneficial properties. It is a precursor to glutathione, one of the most important detoxification agents in the human body.

Glycine is sweet. This property, along with its ability to raise growth hormone, helps to curve sugar cravings, which in turn helps our clients to get leaner, faster. It has a soothing effect, and as a result is often used as part of a pre-sleep protocol to achieve restful, deep sleep. Physiqology in New York City uses glycine as part of its personal training and strength coaching protocol for improved workout recovery.

Arginine stimulates growth hormone production by suppressing endogenous somatostatin secretion. In English, that means that arginine aids in the production of growth hormone by turning off the secretion of somatotropin release-inhibiting hormone (SRIF), the hormone that inhibits growth hormone production. The greater the release of growth hormone, the less fat will be exhibited in the lower legs. At Physiqology in New York City, our personal trainers and strength coaches use one of the best sources of arginine for improving growth hormone release with clients.

Sleep

Proper sleep, though not a supplement that you can put in your mouth, is an absolute necessity to promoting growth hormone production and release. As such, it is covered separately in the third lean legs how-to series: HOW TO LOSE BODY FAT ON THE LEGS, Part III: SLEEP FOR INCREASED GROWTH HORMONE.
