HOW TO LOSE BODY FAT ON THE LEGS, Part 2b: Supplementing For Increased Growth Hormone
Supplementing For Improved Growth Hormone
We make less growth hormone as we age. Additionally, many people are predisposed to produce less than optimal growth hormone due to ethnicity and sleep patterns. Regardless of age, heredity, or lifestyle, if you are training to lean out in the legs, there are certain supplements that you should take. Additionally, the importance of a healthy sleep cycle cannot be overemphasized, as the body makes the bulk of its growth hormone at that time. Supplementation with glutamine, glycine, and arginine, is one of the most powerful ways to boost growth hormone production.
Glutamine
Glutamine is the most prevalent amino acid in skeletal muscle. It is also the first amino acid to be depleted during overtraining or when you get sick. As such, it is an immune system booster.
Glutamine is a muscle-sparing (anti-catabolic) compound which has proven ability to raise growth hormone production. Take 5-10g in the morning and evening to help improve growth hormone levels. In a study published by Nutritional Neuroscience in 2003, glutamine and glycine were shown to help improve serum growth hormone production by 70%. At Physiqology in New York City, our personal training clients get an excellent source of glutamine with every workout.
