MULTI-VITAMIN
A broad based multi-vitamin is an essential supplement. It is impossible to consume the right type and amount of food daily that will give us all the vitamins and minerals we need to function optimally.
WHAT TO LOOK FOR IN A QUALITY MULTI
According to world-renowned strength coach and nutritional guru Charles Poliquin, a quality multi-vitamin should meet certain standards:
- A broad based multiple nutrient formula is essential. It supports detoxification and deals with toxins that are stored in fat.
- Magnesium oxide is a dead give away of a poor supplement. It is only 5% absorbable. The magnesium in a multi-vitamin should always be a chelate form (ends in ate; for example magnesium citrate)
- The manganese total intake should be 7mg or less. More is neurotoxic.
- Women should take a multi-vitamin with both iron and copper in it.
