PERSONAL TRAINING: NUTRITION 301: The 4-Day Rotation Diet, Part II: Healthy Fat
Fish oil
Only pharmaceutical grade fish oil should be ingested. There are a few reputable companies on the general market, but heavy metal pollution in our oceans is such a big problem that it pays to spend the extra money for a quality product.
Flax Oil
Flax oil is not a great source of healthy fat, because there are too many issues surrounding it. Recent studies suggest that individuals who are insulin resistant do not have the enzymes to digest flax oil. As such, the essential fatty acids in flax oil are less bio-available the more insulin resistant you are.
If you want a decent indicator to your level of insulin resistance, check out your love handles. The laws of biosignature highly correlate insulin resistance with a preponderance of body fat in the area of the iliac crest. The fatter you are in that area, the more insulin resistant you are, and the less useful flax oil is to you.
Flax oil also goes rancid very easily, even when refrigerated. Flax can be a great supplement, but is better used in its seed form and then ground to detoxify environmental estrogens than as a healthy fat.
If you want to lose body fat, you should work with a personal trainer who understands the importance of EFA’s (Essential Fatty Acids) in the diet.
